Air Conditioner Question.

Air Conditioner Question.
Before a recharge of my air conditioner I want to make sure that it is infact that the air conditioner is in need of a recharge.
The air basically blows the temperature outside. If its cool in the mornings the air will blow cool, if its hot then it will blow hot.
I have tried using the heater but the coldest its been here in weeks is around 50, and it seems to just blow warm air, not hot at all.
Is there anything else I should look at first? I just barely got a new EXT temp. sensor as there never was one on the car when I first got it.

No need to pop it out, just watch it working (or not) thru the little hole on the left side of your glovebox.

I'm not an HVAC specialist, but looking at this (for a 93) would almost make me think you would have to have more than one problem (AC not chilling and air mix stuck on cool) (huh?). Even if the outside air was 100%, you should still get heat when it is called for and same with AC. (see below)
Would be a good idea to do a quick check of your vacuum line to the vacuum accumulator on the firewall center.

If r3dletterday wants to see if it'* the charge in the AC system, on a warmer day 55 and above, turn on the air conditioningn and see if the clutch on the AC compressor is turning the middle part. That means it'* engaging (always a good sign) and then feel the accumulator, the large silver can on the passenger side, to see if it'* cold. Or feel the tube going to the AC condensor in front of the radiator; the one should be hot after a minute or so of operation.
Inside the car..., if the vacuum line is not connected under the hood, the air will come out the defroster 90% or more. A little will come out the heater openings at the bottom. That would occur no matter what setting the buttons are on because there'* no vacuum to control the flow vanes to change the flow path.
If r3dletterday is able to change the flow path by pushing buttons, then the vacuum is most likely okay. If the only failure is to come out the dash openings for the usual air conditioning flow settings, then the rubber nipples on the vacuum lines most likely have failed. There is a fix to bypass the connector or some have gotten it apart and reamed out the opening and got it back together.
If the air flow path is changeable but the temperature does not change with the digital temp setting, then it likely is an actuator motor. But take off the hush panel and look for the movement of the motor.

is there a way to manually move this? if so can i do it from the hole in the dash until I can get a new actuator?
