Ghetto Wheels - do you like them or not and Why

Ghetto Wheels (as I have read they are called here) - what is the story on them, I had them on the 95 SLE and I was glad the 97 didn't have them. Now I see a few cars here with them and I think they look OK. I am not being sarcastic and I hope I don't offend anyone about my question or the Verbiage I use.......
So why do you like them and or why do you hate them?

most 'ghetto golds' are actually ghetto orange by now. thats one of my main reasons. the other is that they're fairly difficult to keep very clean

Can of worms dude...

Some like them...some hate them. You'll find the haters are usually because of the pain they can be to clean.

I just prefer the look of a torque star.

which wheel is on my 97, can anyone tell? not a trick question.....

BillBoost37 07-06-2005 04:17 PM

Those are the 5 stars. If you look at my sig pic..the car on the left is torque stars and on the right is the 3 spoke or 9 spoke..not sure what they call it.

Ghetto's stay clean with ceramic brake pads, and are the lightest rims on factory bonnevilles. Less rotating mass= more hp put to the wheels.

See...Bill's a ghetto lover. What he fails to mention is any wheels will stay clean with ceramics.

I loved the ghettos too. Not to say I don't like the other Bonne rims. But the ghetto golds/crosslace silver aren't HARD to clean, it just takes longer. Just use a good wheel cleaner and an old toothbrush. And if you drive for weeks without cleaning them it's your own fault if they're hard to clean

You got the Good wheels on yours.... ;)

Seriously, they are my personal preference. Not a fan of "painted" wheel (Ghetto Golds), and I just don't think chrome looks right on modern vehicles. The "brushed aluminum" looks is nice, tho.

NOTE: These are my opinions, you won't change 'em, don't try. I'm older and more stubborn that the lot of ya....
