what does 'posts like a ricer type-r' under my screen name mean? I just noticed that and the fact that I'm a junior member.

the more you post the nicer the labels get.

as far as the head, are you worried about the chain breaking? or stretching? the chain design will last a good 3-400 thousand before you should worry about that

thanks for the reply...so it has a chain instead of a belt,huh?..but what if the chain snapped or skipped a tooth or two,is it an interference head? I don't need to have to worry about another thing going wrong.

thanks for the reply.ok so now I'm not worried about it as much but I would still like to know if it is free running or interference.i checked gates and there was no listing for a belt. so I googled my question and at w-body.com one member said that they have both.how stupid does this sound when I specifically typed in 94' bonnie 3.8L 3800 v-6 se.pissed off I just went to get my Haynes manual from the car and it shows a chain.

I can't even recall. I think it is an interference motor though.

But I can't recall any timing chain failures in stock form. There has been some chain tensioner issues on occasion on abused and neglected engines, but that usually results in unholy noises from the chain slapping against the timing cover.

there is no belts on any of the 3.8'*, and like he said even if neglected it will go to 300 before it starts stretching enough to cause issues but they dont break or skip a tooth, they just get loud and might start messing with the timing.
