Default Wondering about suspension...

so, when did the '92-'99 bonnevilles begin having the optional "performance ride/ standard ride" system and what is it called? I think its interesting that this technology was used in the 90s and now cadillac and chevrolet are doing the same thing with their magnetic ride control. i know our system is different but how exactly does it work?

Its pretty much to my knowledge an air strut system with compressor and depending on the mode will dictate on the stiffness of the ride for either better handling or smoother ride...I beleive its call CCR Computer command ride and i beleive it was available in all 92-99 and sse/ssei'* maybe even the SLE idk ive only been in an se and SSEi

CCR, Computer Controlled (or Commanded) Ride: this was a method in which the valving or fluid consistency was changed with the push of a switch in the cabin. It changed the performance of the struts from a smooth luxury car ride to more of a sporty firmer ride.

The struts were used in the Bonnevilles and many Cadillacs, there was not a lot of production after the fact and therefore once they were gone, no aftermarket manufacturer made them. If you search for parts you will find strut replacements listed, when you look closer you notice the part number is the same as a standard strut replacement.
