Fuel Line Quick-Connect Leaking
So, after changing my fuel filter today, (yet another thing in the ongoing list), the quick-connect further back the line, the one hooking to the rail coming out of the tank, started leaking. Of course no fix on my car can be completed without something else going wrong. So I'm thinking, ok, I can just disconnect that and see what'* going on... o-ring, possibly that short line between the filter and rail, no big deal. Unfortunately, what'* a big deal on this is there isn't enough room to reach the other part of the quick connect to squeeze the collar to release the bugger. Does anybody have any tips for getting up in there and getting that thing to let go? 1996 Bonneville SE, 3.8L etc, etc

Is it leaking at the fuel rail? If so, disconnect it there. Inside the connector there should be 2 O rings. Be sure to get the correct type, and replace them.

I think he'* talking about the fuel lines coming off the tank from the sending unit. Funny though, I can reach mine. Try using a pair of needle nose pliers.

Yeah, I was talking about releasing that clip. I could see the leak, could see the connector, could even push in one side, but the other side was about impossible to get on due to being so close to the fuel tank. Anyways, it'* a moot point now. The good news is I got it off. The bad news is it got easy to do because that line ended up being rotten just above the connector, and popped right off. Off to the shop with it. (again)

I have the same problem with mine! While attempting to remove the quick connect the hard line coming out of the fuel tank broke! All three of them are rusty as hell. I dropped the fuel tank, but can't get the sending unit out due to the cam system being rusted solid. What do I do? Do I replace the fuel tank and sending unit? One small problem just became one very large one.

Take a small screw driver and small hammer and lightly tap all the way around the lock ring where the cams lock in to place. Then spray the snot out of the whole area with PB Blaster and let it sit over night. You may end up destroying the external lock ring, but the part it connects to might still be ok....order a new sending unit and a lock ring.

Your welcome Steve. Feel free to start another thread about the power steering pump.
