SES Codes for my 92 SSEI
18 - Cam/Crank Error
41 - Cam Sensor Circuit
58 - Personal Automotive Security System (PASS-Key) Fuel Enable Circuit
In the techinfo it stated this : For 1992 models if you have a code 58 and your car starts everytime, disregard the code as it was a problem in the 92 PCM.
The only reason why i'm not completely disregarding the code 58 is because of my starter problems. It doesn't always start *every* time. For a more detailed explanation of my starter problem go here: http://www.bonnevilleclub.com/forum/...=670561#670561

What i'm wondering is if any of these SES codes have something to do with my starting problem. Also it may be important to know that I have been driving with my SES light on for about 6 months now. Sometimes it won't be there sometimes it will be. In fact I could be driving and it could go away for 30secs then come back. Usually it will just stay on after that.
Also advice on how to diagnose these code problems even if they don't have to do with my starter would be appreciated. Thanks guys.

I had my alternator checked awhile back and it was fine. At around the same time I boguht a brand new battery. That was a few months ago. For awhile now my starter has been doing the following:
- Starting up normally on one try, or not starting until sometimes up to 20-30 tries of turning the key. When it doesn't start when turning the key it will click once and nothing. However sometimes it will click pause a second and then start up as normal, but that is rare. Usually it'll click once and i'll have to keep turning the key until it starts. (Clicking once for each turn of the key)
Is this the solenoid and not the starter? The starter costs $160 so if its a simpler, less expensive fix than replacing the entire thing then i'd like to save the money.

Nothing there leads me to the 58. It sounds more like an electrical problem.
For the crank code, does your engine ever die momentarily? That would indicate a dying crank sensor. The crank sensor could cause the car to not start, but I wouldn't think it would act in the delayed fashion it sometimes does.
The cam code could be wiring, the sensor, or the magnet on the cam gear. It will cause lowered power and mpg by faulty injector timing.
For the crank code, does your engine ever die momentarily? That would indicate a dying crank sensor. The crank sensor could cause the car to not start, but I wouldn't think it would act in the delayed fashion it sometimes does.

Would you happen to know where to find the wiring harnesses? Also what exactly would I be looking for on the harnesses? I don't mean for you to do all the work here so you could just throw me some general links. I know a decent amount about this car, but not these things.

One harness (cam sensor) will lead to the top left of the crank pulley. One will lead to the right side of the crank pulley (crank sensor). Look for shorts, worn insulation, that kinda stuff.
