Default Water in UIM ???

Cleaning the TB and noticed water in UIM. I just had this changed last week, including the lower intake gaskets. Is this normal.

What year and trim level do you have? Can you please put that in your sig? Could the water have simply leaked when you removed the TB? There are coolant passages in the UIM that feed the lower chin area of the TB.

This can happen if you do not properly seal the throttle body to the UIM.
The coolant passages will leak a little.
I always apply a light smear of RTV to both sides of the throttle body gasket to ensure a drip tight seal.

Mysterio, are you aware of the L36 engine'* reputation for eroding the EGR and coolant passages in the Upper Intake Manifold, sending water into your oil pan and destroying the engine?

I just rebuilt the top end of a 98 for a member here last weekend to prevent that very thing. He'd already had the manifold replaced by one made in 2002, and it was already starting to fail. We put an improved manifold on the car that won't have that problem.

thanks for the reply.

Another question: I was cleaning the IAF ( I believe it it - see picture) and the spring came off with the lever that goes in and out. Did I damage it? the threads looked dirty and screwed it back on and pushed the lever all the way back.. It was pretty tight thought going back.

Cheers,

Are you talking about the electrical connector? Your description isn't really clear.

The sensor, top left side on the TB. Picture is posted, siting on the coolant reserve.

I got the car running and its still sluggish. It idles better but feels like its gasping for air. I need to push on the pedle for it to accelerate.

Do i need an O2 sensor since i do not beleive this has been replaced. Anyway, to check this and is it at the back of the engine behind cylinder 6 plugs. Is there one or two.

Thanks again.

I posted some more pictures. This is another problem, this is a hissing sound from the AC clutch. The noise goes away when the AC is off. It looks like there metal shavings between the clutch. Its this another part that needs to be replaced? Man this is starting to cost me.. Will this cause the current sluggish. Also read that CAT could be causing this?? How can i determine if the CAT needs to be replaced.

I downloaded some Scan tool software and waiting for a ODB2 cable so that i can poll some codes.

Cheers,
