smoke from under hood and no air blowing through
The problem I am having makes no noise like bonneville blue'*. On my 97 when you turn on the A/C It makes a whirring clicking type noise for about 10 seconds and then nothing happens. No A/C or heat will blow through. Now if you are driving over 40 or 50 MPH a little air will blow through (only heat) I suspect only because of the force of air coming into the car at high speeds? As for the white smoke coming from under the right side of the hood, this happens on and off. One more thing, sometimes if I hit a rally big pothole or bump, all of a sudden the A/C or heat will come blowing through for a short time and then stop, usually once I've turned off the ignition. No air the next time I start the car again. Any thoughts?

I think the only reason your symptoms are different is because the HVAC controls/computer for your car are different than BB'*. I'm betting the same thing is broken on both cars, it'* just that his won't disable the airflow like the newer ones. I'd be curious to see how many wires go to each of your compressors?
