fuel delivery problem I think help needed

94 bonni 3.8 non s/c. was diving and car spuddered and died. Would not start. First thought was frozen fuel line. Got it home and warmed her up and got it to start barely. So I pulled the fuel filter and had alot of dirty fuel come out. So I changed the filter thinking I found the trouble NOT. Now it will start and run better but if you give it any throttle it wants to die. Seems to me that i'm burning water or coolant. I have replaced the upper intake within the last year. What could it be ? Fuel pump, Intake again Any help would be great. The ses comes on now and then. I know get the code but i'm tring to save a couple bucks

I wonder if you got a slug of dirty fuel clogging something up? Best way to fix is to retrieve the trouble code.
