95' SSEi fuel pump replacement
im pretty sure im going to have to replace my fuel pump on my car..but before i do--i was wondering if anybody has done it on this year car..and how hard it was and how long it took---also anything that would make it quicker and easier...any help is appreciated.

Hey there.
Make sure to drain the tank as completely as possible before you start.
Get the fuel pump and fuel filter before hand. You also might want to purchase new straps before you begin. Might as well change them while you're under the car. Also, make sure your fuel pump comes with a new fuel strainer. If not, make sure to get that too.
When you put the car up, you'll need to take down the exhaust to remove the fuel tank. The two tank straps are held on by two bolts that are a REAL pain in the *** to remove. Take your time with it. They are held on by clips behind the bolts.
When Bill and I removed the bolts, the stupid clips seperated from the bolts and span. After 2 hours of trying various methods of removing the bolts, we finally said to hell with it and cut the straps. The tank came down like 10 minutes later. Once you get the tank off, be REALLY gentle tapping out the fuel tank seals. Lots of sensitive parts there. After you pull the pump assembly out of the tank (carefully), you'll need to remove the pump and strainer.
I'll post pics later, hope that helps.

I found that blowing off the top of the tank before and after I got the locking ring undone was a great help to keep the debris out fo the tank. Also..have empty gas cans around if possible. Pour any remaining fuel into them when the tank is out. This aids in putting it back in. Once back in. and hooked up fully, dump your fuel back in and give it a try. Takes a couple minutes to prime back up. I actually cranked the car over for a bit.
Nice how the sound of the cranking drown out the whining noise coming from the guy reattaching the exhaust. :P
