Default 95 hesitates-surges

Been trying to figure this out for the last couple of weeks now. Anytime I get between 2k-5kRPM, the engine seems to hesitate or surge, low power in the butt dyno. I can really hear it in the exhaust(what little exhaust I do have left).

It idles fine, purrs like a kitten.
Pulled the sparkplugs, checked the gaps, cleaned them up.
Checked the plug wires-ok.
Checked the coil packs, found 1 bad. Swapped it out today, no change.
Checked the MAF, cleaned it-no change

Did I miss anything?

All gears.

I can manually put it in 1st and slowly climb high in RPM and almost pinpoint the RPM'* where it will start doing it. Almost tempted to grab the camcorder and shoot a clip.

My reason for asking was to find out if it was a high load TCC type surge. That would be 3rd or 4th only though.

do you have the maf screen in place?

Yes, MAF screen is in place and free of bugs, twigs, and body parts.

You said you can hear it in the exhaust. What does it sound like? Does it seem to sputter?

like a miss or something. Sounds like a cylinder doesn't fire.

Haven't verified the FP yet, and the only way is to get my but to AZ, but currently I'm stuck at home with daughter.

humm one way to check the plug wires for leaks is soap water spray it on the plug wires and it will show u which one is bad if there is one ... but i wouldnt suggest driving the car untill its all dried up and it doesnt take allot just one spray to dampen not soak the lines lol
