I hope we all have the information to exchange despite of here in Russia there are about 50pcs of Bonnevilles 1992-1995. First question for you - I have from time to time diagnostic trouble code 56 - Quad Driver Error. It seems this code is not obvious for diagnostic procedure. So please give me your feedback concirning the problem. As I understand, this QD line "B" control following solenoids - Boost control, EGR, TCC.
Thus we have the space for investigation.

code 56: Boost control solenoid
12353309 Boost Control Solenoid (Series I 3800, 91 -95)
1997244 Boost Control Solenoid (Series II 3800, 96 -03)

That would be good if it was only the solonoid. Hope that'* it! The last time I heard of a quad driver error, it was a bad PCM. But that car wouldn't deliver fuel at all.

Does the SES light come on mainly when you decelerate? Does your boost gauge ever go all of the way to +10 when you accelerate?

I just looked in my 93 service manual. It says that 56 is the Quad-Driver "B" Fault. Are you possibly looking at a different source? Mine says that 57 is the Boost Control Problem.

This is not a very easy diagnostic. The PCM monitors the transmission, EGR, and the boost control solenoid. When it receives an incorrect signal from one of the above components, it sets 56. Do you have any symptoms, like bad shifting, or poor drivability?

As for my problem.
SES lights on when I decelerate only. It happans couple of days after I've replaced supercharger by Paxton rebuild one. There are no problems with driving at all like bad driving, shifting, nothing. Only SES from time to time. Our services seems not to be happy to see the code appearing from time to time. So I hope together we will manage to fix a problem.

OK, I think DeathRat has the right solution. I've heard of this before. Sounds like a boost control solenoid. Do you get a max boost of only about +5?

I'll check a few other places.

My manuals (paper & CD) do not list any Code:57? Just this one.

As my memory serves me correctly, here is your problem. Check to see that your symptoms match. I cannot get the e-mail to paste in correctly, so it does repeat a few times.

go all the way to about 8-10? I had a problem with the Boost Control
Solenoid and I think I got the same code, my boost would not max out at
all.

Code 56 has to do with either the Boost Control Solenoid or the EGR
valve.

Craig and everyone else....

I installed the Boost Control Solenoid which was very simple and I
immediately noticed that the SES light no longer came on. A test drive
around the block proved that 10+ PSI boost was restored. Big thanks to
Craig for the correct diagnosis. For everyone else, if you have noticed
your boost being limited to < 5psig when you get on it, you might consider
replacing this solenoid. It cost me $21 at the dealer and it made huge
improvement in performance. This is on a series I SC and I don't know if it
applies to Series II. When I bought the part, it had an AC Delco box
inside the GM box, so here are the p/ns for each:

AC Delco: 01997217
GM: 12353309 3.342

1995 Bonneville supercharged boost control solenoid is bad. Part no. is 12353309 and is obsolete from GM can I use the 1997244 from later model ? Thanks Rich
