Default HUD question

Does anyone know how to re attach or adjust the cable on a 93 HUD set up, i havent removed any of the dash yet, but i do know this is the problem, if i sit WAY up and look down i can see it reflecting the speed and what not, just cant adjust it, feels like nothing is hooked up to the slider bar adjuster on the dash..
anyone have any insight on this one?

Nobody to my knowledge has messed with the cable. I'd certainly tackle it from the dash end for starters though.

If it comes to getting parts, I THINK the cable disappeared in 96, and went electrical.

Not sure if we're talking about the same thing, but mine is PURELY mechanical, and has no switch.

I think we're talking about the same thing. On the '93 HUD control panel, besides the pushbutton metric/Imperial unit selector, there are two sliders. The brightness control slide really is a switch (okay, a slide dimmer with an Off position at the bottom), but the position slide is one end of a Bowden cable, like the brake cable on a bicycle, where the outer casing is clamped down at both ends, and the inner core is pushed or pulled by the slide control to move whatever is attached to the other end.

You'll need to pull the HUD control panel out to look at the cable mount. If its casing is secure and the inner core slides back and forth the way it should, your problem is up at the other end, at the display unit. I haven't had to work on mine so I can't say which end is more likely to have the problem.
