Default pulls to the right, even after alignment!? **UPDATE**

My car pulls to the right, even after I JUST had it aligned! Parked, the steering feels pretty normal, but take off and the car just veers to the right. Go to stop and just as the car is about to stop, the steering wheel occasionally feels like it "falls" to the right. The tires and new and balanced. I can't figure it out. Also, when I hit bumps and stuff, there seems to be an unusual amount of feelback through the steering (it'* a bonneville, I shouldn't feel as much as I do!), and when I hit big bumps, the steering likes to jerk/turn to the right, I always has. There are no weird suspension noises either. The wheels feel tight when jacked up and wiggled. Idk, this car is falling apart. Any ideas?

be sure that its not just the plane of the road, and then go back.

did you have all 4 aligned or just the front.

andif/when you go back, ask for the spec sheet. do not leave without seeing the #*.

I actually did have that same problem.

First, is your brakes dragging? Check your right caliper. If it is not dragging, try swapping the front tires if they are not directional, if htey are directional, you can run them backwards but not for a long time, if the car pulls to the left, you probably have a bad tire.

I did eventually trace it back to my tires.

How are the struts on the car? Old and worn struts will cause the steering issues. If the brakes are dragging, then you may have a frozen slide. They can sometimes be a PINA to get out.

If the brakes really are dragging, a brake pad change is in order. How do the pads look?

Also, if your rear-right tire really is having problems, that would definitely have a lot to do with the car pulling. The people that did your alignment most likely couldn't tell your tire was having a problem once the car was up with the wheels at eye level.

my struts are in good condition. Car seems to ride a little on the rough side though, like it might have KYB-GR2s or something.

anyways, so I took it back in today, and had the guy drive it. He says that it seemed to drive normal and that the combination of FWD, the right-alignment bias (where the car is purposely aligned a little to the right for safety reasons, I have heard this before), and the type of transmission (only one wheel spins) may have something to do with it.

so are these cars just really sensitive to changes in road or what?

Yes, the cars are designed with a slight pull to the right for safety reasons (falling asleep at the wheel) but everything else sounds like BS to me. The car will use equal power to both wheels unless one loses traction then the spinning one gets more power.

Also did you check your air pressure? a low one in the right front probably can make it pull to the right.

Also, do you feel like you have to fight it or can you drive it with one finger on the wheel?

yes, air pressure is good.

on a perfectly flat road (such as the inside lane on a 4-lane), it seems alright, but if the road is even slightly tilted it seems like it'* happier going right. idk, could be the bad right rear tire.

My car does the same thing. Before I changed tires, it was HORRIBLE. And, it was only when there was some road crown present. With my new tires, it'* not nearly as noticeable, but if I let go of the steering wheel down a two lane two way road, it will slightly glide to the right. Not immediately now, but with the old tires, yes.

I am willing to bet it'* just a normal thing that a 3600lb car experiences when subject to gravity and inertia.
