Freeze plugs.. are they really this difficult?
Anyone know what the official dorman part # for our freeze plugs are (96 L67)??
The GMPartsEast catalog says (part 129) that it is a 1.51'' diameter plug with .31'' thickness. 1996 Pontiac Bonneville - GM00261H02 Engine ASM-3.8L V6, Part 1 The guy at oreilly first sold me ones that were too small. Then he sold me dorman part# 565-029 (Dorman Products - 565-029) which is 1.572'' diameter and .38'' thick. I've had one hell of a time trying to bang this thing into the block. Seems like this guy did too (http://www..com/forum/post318211.htm...0plugs#p318211). Apparently he went through 9 of them. --Sorry for linking our rivals here The next best thing I've been able to find (after parsing through dorman's ENTIRE catalog of plugs) is part # 565-028 or 565-828. These guys are 1.50'' diameter and .420'' thick (Dorman Products - 565-028) Did I miss anything in the catalog or is there a magic part # for brass freeze plugs for this engine? Or another manufacturer? |
Update: Went with the 565-028.1. They fit the best despite not being a "recommended part" in O'reilly's database.
