Okay I swapped the icm/coils.......I even reset the computer for about a day 1/2 it ran great...I finally thought my prob was over..........Then as I was going to work I have to go up a pretty steap hill I gave it some gas an right before I got to the top it started bucking and surging an cutting out.........I smashed the gas on down and it quit. The ses light came on. When I got home I pulled the code (21). Tps volt low. This car has had 2 new ones on it. Could it be set wrong? It looks like it goes over too far because the left corner of the sensor is hitting the thermo housing. I still think I should check into the bad groud since when it rains out alot it will miss something awful. I dont know what to do. Any suggestions.

1992 was the last year with an adjustable TPS. You either have a wiring problem between the TPS and the PCM, or it'* adjusted wrong. It should be (if I recall) no lower than .74 volts at idle.

Code 21 is throttle position voltage too HIGH. You need it adjusted for 0.2-0.74 at idle, and about 5 volts at WOT.

Willwren........sorry for the other post in the wrong one..anyway.......I think that they set the tps at 0.5 at idle and they didnt even give it gas and set it also. I bet this is my actual problem. That would cause it to surge and cut out under a load. Yea, I know the */c coupler would only get rid of the noise, however when doing this I unhooked the neg. battery side and after the job was done rehooked it and the car ran great.....then the same prob showed up. when the ses light comes on I can feel the car like kick down or something. When was the last tune up with spark plugs and wires.

Also what brands of wires/plugs were used?

autolite plugs....wires not for sure got them at autozone less than a month ago. I done the night time check and didnt see any sparks anywhere. No the ses light comes on then goes out.

Hello everyone........just a quick update.......well I adjusted my tps sensor and FINALLY my problem is solved. So much for a local garage setting it. It runs great now no ses light and the surging is GONE!!!! Thank you all for all your help.........The only problem Im not for sure about being solved is when it rains really hard out if it will miss. Should be able to figure that one out since its supposed to rain for a week straight down here.

Rainy misfires are typically attributed to plug wires arcing.

Simulate it at night at idle. Use a spray bottle with water, and mist the engine down while it runs. In the dark, you'll see the arcing.
