Default Need Radio Display Repair Write Up

About a year ago I noticed a write up by a member pertaining to the fix on the blank radio display. My stock 97 Ei radio display is totally blank and never comes on. I don't know if it'* a cold solder problem or burned out bulb but lost the write up ever since the pc crashed and reformate took place.
Does anyone know where I can get the repair write up for a 97 Ei stock radio display blank screen repair?

Thanks.

I was working on one a couple of weeks ago. Even replaced mine. But never got a chance to putting it on here.

If you are in a hurry and don't have the time nor patience to wait for the special bulb, you can do it another way, but it requires a soldering iron and 2 small pieces of wire. Let me know how you want to go about doing this and I will help you.

Thanks for the reply sawgunner and Mike1995, is this a bad connection via a bad cold solder joint or are all the display bulbs burned out at once? I didn't think that one bulb lite up the whole display, that'* why I thought it was more a bad contact problem. I had this same problem with my wifes car and I just resoldered about 8 joints and it worked again. Is that'* not the case here?

Typically in your year Frank, the bulb burns out. It is a socketed bulb that I've had success in replacing with one from RadioShack. You may find one at The Source aka the Canadian Radio Shack.

I used a 12V low milliamp bulb.

I picked up the 12V low milliamp bulb while visiting Florida and will attempt the repair when time permits. Thanks everyone.

Repair has been done but Mick decided to reinstall a different stereo so I guess the original GM Radio goes back in my stock pile.
