Default Accessing the ECC system for any possible Codes set.

If I may submit my inquiry to this forum, as it has been sitting over at the
Other 3800 powered carsforum, with, unfortunately, no responses.

In my searching for the procedures for accessing the diagnostic mode for any ECC [ Electronic Climate Control ] codes set on my wife'* 1997 LeSabre,
I've come across a detailed description for a 1995 -- here on this forum.

However, I'm sensing that the procedures are different for the '97.

The article I found suggested:

Pressing & holding the OFF and Temp Increase buttons on the ECC, until it enters the diagnostic mode..

I tried this, both with the ignition key off, as well as it being in the on position [ without the engine running ], however, with no results.

With the above in mind, the probability appears that the procedures -- even if they do exist -- may be different for the '97s and later models ????

Thank you, in advance, for any responses and guidance, should anyone be familiar with the procedures.

Luke

And that was on Bonnevilles. Buicks may or may not be different on the year.

I'd bet my next 12-pack that you have to get them scanned by a dealer.

Interesting, unfortunately, when they had it, they did not mention anything regards 'results of any diagnostics'.

Yes, but first, I'll input that I've checked out the actual, or atleast, what I think to be, the A/C'* relay.
My limited understanding was that the Relay sits to the left side of the ray of relays, which sit below the RH & LH Maxifuse blocks. [Located in the back of the engine compartment, centered on the back firewall.]

It did take me some time, to design a tool to be able to slip under the relays, so as to be able to slide out the Relay..

Though not confirmed, I have the understanding that the two most left relays, control the A/C Compressor and the Horn. I reversed them this weekend -- horn still worked when it'* relay was replaced with the A/C'* relay.

The symptom, is that the A/C is not engaging. I've had 'the dealer' check it out, with their judgment being. that the compressor is making a 'knocking' sound, and needs to be replaced.

My initial issue, is that I don't believe that the compressor is even engaging. For my wife has said that she is not getting any cold air flow.
Air is flowing through the vents -- but at a normal ambient temperature.

Thank you JR, I'll try that, for I have 'jumped' the low pressure switch on my Saturn -- so I do know how to do that.

Will report back.
