Default Coolant temp sender location.

Hey, where is it? My temp gauge is reading very low but my laser thermometer says the coolant temp is 206 degrees after a freeway run. I have excellent heat, so the coolant isn't low, plus my t-stat is drilled.

By process of elimination, I think the sending unit is toast. Also, anybody got a part number?

Thanks!

Is that the one for the gauge? Does the L36 have two? I can tell you Series 1 cars use two. One for the PCM, one for the gauge.

Disconnect it and see if the gauge changes to be sure it'* the right one. Just pull back the heat shroud. The sensor body faces forward toward the driver'* side of the radiator. Can't miss it, especially if it has that ugly loom and silver tape on it.

Swapped mine out today and now the temp gauge agrees with my heat gun. Took 15 minutes.
