92 Bonneville Problems
Hello, I am a new member here and I am looking for any help I can get. I have a 92 Bonneville with around 192K on it and recently a couple of issues have shown up and I would like to get some opinions on what might be going on. I'm not the most capable car guy so keep that in mind. The first problem I am having is when the car is idling in park. The RPMs start fluctuating to where the the car almost stalls and then the the RPMs pick back up. It just keeps going back and forth. I had someone suggest that it could be a vacuum issue or maybe a case of some bad gas. I'm not 100% sure what to think at this point. The second issue we are having is when we try to start the car. There are times (especially in the morning when we first try to start it) when you turn the key and all you hear is a click. I have since found that if I shift the car into neutral, it starts with no problem at all. Any input anyone has would be most appreciated.

First problem, sounds like a vacuum leak. Spray carb cleaner around the vacuum lines, if you hear a RPM change, you found the vacuum leak. Don't forget to check the EGR tube.
Second problem, could be two things. A corroded battery cable. Clean both ends of both cables and see if that helps. The other possibility is your neutral safety switch needs a little adjustment.
