Lotsa gaskets (Now with WIP pics, need a little help please)
On my to do list are: front cover gasket, front cover oil seal, oil filter adapter gasket, lower intake manifold gaskets and seals.
I've been leaking a large amount of oil for a while now, and calculated that fixing all these in one fell swoop will pay for itself rather quickly.
I've got factory sevice manuals. Are the procedures exactly as specified, and do I really need all the special little tools for this, like: flywheel holder, crankshaft pulley puller, crankshaft sensor adjuster, and front cover seal installer?

It like opening a can of worms really. even if you think you have it covered something will come up?
With the manuals and the tools I'm sure you can do it. I would rent the tools even if at the time I didnt need them just in case, I hate to get the wind knocked out of me halfway into something?

Autozone doesn't have the tools. The guy there was fairly certain I would need to get them from a dealership. But I don't know if they rent tools. He did give me a great coupon for my felpro gaskets, though. Paid less than half price!! He didn't even mention it and I didn't notice till I got home.
I don't have the money to get stuff machined right now. I gotta be able to pay for premium gas.
Lets see, the intake manifold gaskets get NO sealer, right? Bill? Do any others get it? My FSM'* don't day to, so I won't unless someone tells me otherwise.

Well, I've got the lower intake manifold gaskets done. I found that my intake valves are pretty clean, from what I could see through the ports. The gasket set info directed me to put a small glob of (supplied) RTV at the 4 corners where the gaskets meet the seals.
My dad has a balancer pulley set with the bolts I need, but it only came with two :? So, it'* off to the hardware store for me in the 356,000 mile Olds 88. I'm gonna have to finish this tomorrow.
Teardown pics tomorrow...

Buncha random work in progress pics:
I stopped because I decided to replace the water pump and knock sensor while I have the timing cover off, but I need to go buy them first.
For those who notice and understand the implications of the decals on the M62, be kind, it still works...
