Default Ignition system questions??? Help

Hello everyone,
I have a 92 Bonneville SE with a 3800, i had a problem with a code 41 " Cam sensor circuit " the car would also stall and sometimes not start at all, just turn over and it had no spark. After about 5-6 times of no spark condition it would finally fire. The car stalled while driving also, i replaced the crank sensor & cam sensor they were cheap enough and the car has 160k. Stalling while driving had stopped. No start condition also had stopped. Now i still after clearing the codes get the SES light on once in a while " code 41 again " I went to the junk yard and grabbed a PCM switched the prom and reset the computer again after driving it for a day. Code 41 came back, anyone thinking ICM?

I also had to replace the battery, after roughly 10 minutes of the radio playing with the car off, it would need a charge. I replaced the battery with a optima red, drove 40 miles to the car auction and smelled battery acid, shut off the car, popped the hood and yes, the battery was smoking. put in the old battery, got another optima red, drove the car for a week without problem'*. Then on Monday drove to another auction 50 miles, and again acid smell, popped the hood and the battery was smoking again. Put in the old battery and havent had this problem in over a month. Any help will be greatly appreciated. The car runs great by the way, just that damn SES light.

Thanks,
Sellncars

Check the condioton of the termials on your battery cables. I melted a red top because there was too much corrosion under the rubber on the battery ends of the terminal.

Try that and see if that helps.

Good point. If you have the magnavox system on there, pick up an ICM and coils from a 93 or newer 3800, and swap 'em in. Even if it'* not the problem, it'll be worth it.

Hey guys,
I checked the battery terminals a while back, i had the negative side that was stripped, bought new ones. The ICM that is on the car is a Magnavox set-up. Now you guys are saying that i can get a Delco coilpack from a newer 3800 ( now matter what kind of car ) and install it on my car? Just go by the numbers on the coils for the wires? Oh, No i have not checked yet for that damn magnet that everyone talks about.

Thanks,
Sellncars

You need the ICM, coil packs, and POSSIBLY the bracket. There are several topics here relating to this that should be fairly easy to find with the SEARCH feature.
