Engine Shut Down at 85 MPH and at 1/4 tank gas..help!

I was about to be late for work this morning and i was going like 85 mph (on the interstate) and all of a sudden the car just went dead..I let it coast to the emergency strip...but befror i came to a stop i put it in neutral and started it back and and kept going!

What do you guy's think my problem is?

It has never done this before!

thanks

I only had this happen going around turns with a 1/4 tank or less. But you were going straight huh? Possible a first sign that the fuel pump is getting ready to go out.. But can't tell for sure since it only happened once ..

I think someone else mentioned the infamous crank sensor also. It would cause the exact same symproms.. One thing you can try is take a really long screwdriver or similiar piece of metal and set it right on top of the crank sensor which is near the crank balancer.on the lower passanger side/front of the engine. .. Tap lightly on the sensor while the car is running. It it shuts off or studders, it is a sensor problem.. Make sure not to wack it too hard, to knock it out of alignmrent though.. A light tap can help diagnois the crank sensor..
