Hello again all. I'm back with my 1996 Bonnie SSEi, and I seem to be having troubles with the Command Control Ride. My "Performance Ride" and "Touring Ride" buttons are both lit up, and pressing either button does nothing. I only noticed this a few days ago, but ever since I bought the car, the front end has had a "clunk" noise at times. I had it looked at, and was told to replace the Strut Bearings. I replaced the Strut Bearings (and the mounting plates (?)) several months ago, thinking that was the problem, but it wasn't. Then, I noticed those two lights on. The "Clunk" noise has also not been happening as much these past couple of weeks.

I did a search, and tried the Code Retrieval Procedure, and pulled 2 codes:
Code 24 - RF Actuator
Code 33 - Driver Select Switch Error

I have been reading all I can about this CCR system, but I can't figure out what is going on. By "Driver Select Switch Error", does that mean the actual switches by my gearshift? Could I just need a new switchpod?

As for the car'* ride, it'* not too bad, but has never been all that great. I can usually feel a lot of bumps, and it doesn't corner as well as my old 1991 Bonneville SSE.

Any help is (as always) Greatly appreciated.....And sorry for the long rant!

To disable the system and replace with conventional non-ccr struts. Disable instructions are linked at the bottom of the page.

CCR struts are problematic and under-achieving. Also VERY expensive assuming you can even find them.

Um.....Boss? That link would be great if he wanted to rebuild his supercharger (linky to your page is still not corrected), but since he has a CCR issue, I will do what I can to help.

I don't have the time right now, to go through all the circuit tests, but I will later when I get back home if nobody posts it before then.

I have done the diagnositc code pulls before for a club member here, but we have not yet done the tests to determine the problem(*). The FSM says if multiple codes are present, to check grounds at the driver select swtich and check strut connector cavities (the strut connector is the unit that the electrical connectors are plugged into at each strut. THe strut connector extends down into the cavity for each strut) to insure the cabities are dry and clean). To remove the strut connector, you are supposed to squeeze the "tabs" on each side of the connector and pull straight up. It doesn't say you need to discconect the electircal connector to do this, but I have not pulled a strut connector yet. For the strut code, procedures lead to repairing electrical shorts/connections or replacement of the strut.

For the switch codes, procedures lead to repairing electircal circuits or replacing the switch.

Thanks again all. I will check the connectors and grounds, and if still nothing, I will disable the system. It'* a shame, as I usually like to keep my car'* stock, and working like they did from factory, but from what I have read here, Monro'* or similar will give me a better ride and handling then factory, so that is definatley a good thing.
