Default trunk?

ever since i added my trunk lid carpet my trunk doesnt go up when i press the button. how can i fix this? i looked for a solution and i found those bars that im guessing are the springs and they have settings kinda like a lawn mower whel adjustment but i cant get the bars to move at all. any ideas? i just want the trunk to pop open like it used too.

yup when i added my carpet it just kinda goes up a little. there are torsion bars that control the tension for the decklid. The bars are VERY hard to move and you need a J-tool to do it......i would recommend taking it to the dealer and see if they could it for you....My dad did it for me, he has done it before for other cars when he worked at the dealer, but he still had a hell of a time

sorry its a Tool that slips into the end if the torsion bar and allows you to move the bars into the slots. I can get the pic in the FSM if you would desire

the decklids on our 94SSE and my 99 grand prix do not go up all the way, when u pop the trunk, they just pop open like 4 inches then u have to raise it the rest of the way

is that a problem
