engine not picking up
i was driving my 99 SLE the other day and felt the engine not responding very well. like i went to accelerate from a stop and i saw the RPM go up, and the heard engine get louder but didnt feel the car move as much as it should. i wasnt on a hill. today the car felt normal, however i looked into recalls and said the fuel pressure regulator maybe be defective so im looking to replace that. any suggestions what the small problem could be??

Does it feel like the cars trying to physicaly accelerate like you're on a steep hill, but it just can't do it?

Mine was doing that before the trany went in it. Word of cautuon to you, as it sounds like you might be fallen victim as well.

I see in your signature that you have Bosch plugs and wires. How old are they? Those plugs and wires are junk in our 3800s. I would consider changing those before you pour money into the tranny. You have low miles for a tranny failure unless you've seriously been beating on it.
Pick up a set of NGK TR-55 plugs and a set of AC Delco plug wires. Also, how old is your fuel filter? And have you checked your fuel pressures? Your pump may be getting weak. I had a similar situation in my 99 that I couldn't resolve. Ended up being a weak fuel pump. Was only delivering 37 lbs. of fuel to the rail. Let's start with some cheap stuff first before you dump money into the tranny! ;) |
Also...where are you located. It's possible there are members nearby that could help out with diagnosing this issue.
