I've read the majority if not all the door/water leak threads but I don't recall seeing a definitive source for the weatherstripping.

Does anyone know where to get both the grooved rubber that goes around the top of window frame and the rubber that wraps around the door opening? Most all the sources I've seen on the net stop at '91. My greatest need is the driver'* door for a '94 LSS.

Also, does anyone know if the weatherstripping for '92-'95 Bonne doors are the same as for '92-99 Buick LeSabre and and '92-'99 Olds 88'*/98'*?

Weatherstripping is tough to find with the older cars. Have you tried here?

Thanks for the lead -- I did find a listing, but it seems like its only for the back door for $120. With only a bajillion H-body cars made you'd think these strips would be more available?

I did try JC Whitney but I find their listing suspicious. I was only able to search up to '92. Which doesn't make sense. If it fits '92, should go all the way to '99 (for Olds anyway). So I'm guessing it may be a typo, and they mean to say '91. I even got on the live chat with a salesperson to voice my concerns. She could not give a direct answer either way and suggested I check back on Monday so they can contact the manufacturer during business hours.

Just a sec. Most of the time, the leak is caused by the rubber getting dry. It shrinks about 1/2 inch or so, and pulls out at the corners.

I'm always for the right solution for the person. Heaven knows I want only the best of the best for my charging circuit. But you can usually tell if the rubber is shot or not. If it is gone, it will be hard and flake off in your hand. Most of the time it'* not that bad. All you have to do is reset the rubber, with plenty in the top corners. That may leave you with 1/2 to 1" at the connect at the bottom of the door. And you can fill that in with a piece of a generic ws, or bubblegum.

Just my $.015, but $120 for a door gasket gave me a chest pain. FWIW, urged on by folks here, I reset mine the very first day I came here(orig club) 4 years ago, on my '95. And it has lasted just fine.You may have to be a little patient to get the rubber off, or may have to use a glue remover (goof-off, or a real solvent if you don't smoke) and a small plastic spat.

Then again, maybe I'm just cheap.

Hey, I'm all about cheap with this car. Actually with all my cars.

When I checked this morning after a lot of rain overnight, I could see that there were a couple spots on the top of the window frame'* grooved rubber strip where it seemed 'flat' --these gaps looked like the main culprits to me. Overall the rubber around the top of the window seemed harder than I would have expected. The rubber around the door opening itself actually did not seem too bad, but I didn't look too closely, after all, it was still a little drizzly and definitely cold!

I also saw that there was water dripping on the inside of the car-- dripping from the upper door trim overhead down to the top of the door sill directly below, about even with the side view mirror. There was another drip about even with where you would find an old-school doorlock ****.

Are you describing pulling the rubber away and re-seating from the top of the window, or from around the door opening, or perhaps both?

UPDATE: I was able to take a look in the dry sunshine, and study the situation. Just as suggested, the door gasket had pulled away at the corners.

I went to a junkyard this afternoon and lucked upon a '98 Olds 88, with gray interior like mine. The door gaskets were more supple than mine & 4 years newer, so I scored both of the front doors' for $20. Not bad. I was going to grab the rubber around the window frame, but saw it was more complex than I thought so I left it alone.

On the next warmer day (whenever that is) I'm gonna pull the old and put on the new. Any suggestions for adhesive, or do I just put them on as is?

Charlie nailed it. Those seals do pull from the corners. It happened on mine, I pulled them out, RTV'd the snot out of them and voila!

Clear silicone RTV? Give some time without and you will be back in the same boat.

Cool. I used that stuff on the top trim edge of the windshield and at the roof corners front and back-- there were gaps where the windshield stripping met the roof.
