Default A Power... Pause??

Hello all.. been a long time. I have a 94 SE with 60 some thousand miles. It was a rental car for one year of its life and i dont think that it was a "nice" year to it. When i acellerate at a constant rate there is a spot in the acceleration range that it feels like my car has reached a peak for a second or so until the RPM rises a little more (its about 1900-2500 RPM and then it feels like something kicks in and i have a ton of power. This is NOT a gear change... i repeat this is NOT MY CAR SHIFTING GEARS . It feels as thso in the middle of the gear something (like the TCC) wil release a little then catch again. But it could be with my not so perfect engine... any ideas... id like my car to get better gas milage and i think this will help.. (im only getting about 20 on the highway)

Thanks!
~Brandon

Is there a turbo hiding under your hood?

Is the catalytic converter original?

I'd suggest a possible dead spot in the TPS, but you really need to get a scantool on the car to figure all of this out, especially your TCC suspicion.

Welcome back

Well, i have somewhat of a scantool. Its a program on a laptop that reads the car. It works, but i need more information from it because it is a trial version software that only gives me so much information at a time. Unfortunatly the full version of the software is like $195 which i cant spare right now... BUt i will be getting a job this summer soooo maybe that will change...
And it doesnt allow recording long enough for me to recreate the problem whch doesnt happen all the time.

I WISH there was a turbo hiding under there... wouldnt that be a nice surprise :P

Cat is original as far as i know.. its got a nice surface coating of rust so i assume its original

I like the TPS thought but i am always holding the pedal steady (or mostly i think) and as the car is accelerating itself (going up in RPM) it just steadies at a speed for a bit then continues accelerating.

And maybe another thought along these lines is when im accelerating up a hil and my car is on the verge of downshifting (but i hold it just before that point) sometimes it will feel like there is a temprary little loss in power because it feels like something is letting go in the tranny just a little...

Sorry to be so windy i hope you got through that

Correction.. it happens always under medium to hard acceleration and always when i push the pedal down and hold it in one spot (that causes it to go past 2800 or so RPM)...
