Smells like something died in there
My car has been leaking for awhile due to disconnected sunroof drains in the front and the rear. I bought the car only a month ago but this problem has been going on for some time, in spite of what the previous owner says. Anyways tonight I took out all of the seats and pulled the carpet back to cut out the carpet pad/sound deadening material. That is one of the worst smells on earth...but I got all of the mat out. I will be putting some new stuff in tomorrow or Monday. The carpet is salvageable, as it has a rubber backing on it and is in very good shape.
Keep an eye out for leaking problems and please, take care of your Bonneville...I wish the previous owner had taken better care of the car. But still, a fully functional SSEi with all the options probably isnt a bad deal for $1300.

I have the same problem I think, I just don't know if it'* from the sunroof or the windshield seam. Mine leaks from the head-liner down the windshield on the driver'* side naturally right in my field of view.

My 93 smelled like it was parked in a swamp for a couple of months prior to purchasing. I removed the entire interior and misted the floor pan with a 50/50 bleach & water solution. This was done twice over two days, allowing the solution to dry between applications. Then it was washed with soap and water. Meanwhile, all of the padding was washed with a deoderant cleaner and a garden hose. The front mat didn't survive the removal and the middle piece became distorted after the wash as to not be able to retain the shape of the carpet between the seats and doors anymore. Fortunately, I was able to salvage these pieces from a parts car.
With the sunroof open, I can still smell a musty smell. I believe it is coming from the rear seatback.
