Thumbs up Buying 95 Bonneville.. any advice?

I have been looking for a Bonnie for a while now, and I think I found something within my budget.

Locally there is a 1995 Bonneville SSE w/leather, and 200,000 miles for $1200 OBO. The guy says its in great shape, has had very good maintenance and such. He said the paint is in very good condition and that there is no rust (yet). I havent seen it yet, its local but its about 30 minutes away from where I live. Tomorrow a friend of mine that lives in the this guys neighborhood is going to take pictures and email them to me.

My Father In Law has a 92 that used to be the better halfs, Ive done all of the maintenance and work on it (we bought that Bonnie @ 65,000 miles) It now has 233,000 miles on it and still runs out great. Despite an alternator here and there and the obligatory forward clutches in the trans, the 3800 has proven itself over and over again! Im sure I dont need to brag about the 3800 here, its probably like preaching to the choir ...LOL.

Anyways, Im not real familiar with the 1995, Im imagining there werent any major changes. Anything common I should look for? Would you hesitate buying a Bonnie w/200,000 miles on it? For obvious reasons, i think its the only car I'd buy with that many miles!

The 95'* are little princesses. things like alternators are 95 specific. Also typical OBD 1 or 2 scanner cannot scan this car. I have a 95 and have been having issues with it. Im not bad talking the car, if it ran well id love it. lol

95'* had problems with burning up there head light switches.

Find yourself a local salvage yard and and plan on stopping there sometime to pull a good donor headlight switch.

Also 95'* where a bit glitchy with there electrical system all around. I've found that doing the 'sense wire' mod back in 2006 helped greatly. The lights don't dim anymore and the ECC(Electronic Climate Control) does not flicker anymore as well.

Enjoy
