New interior almost complete *update with new pics*
Today I was able to finally put new material on the headliner and install it. This went pretty well. I had to repair some areas on the board itself as there were a couple of significant tears in the fiberous stuff. After installation, I decided to do something with the sunroof gasket cause it was in rough condition as well. I found a way to recover it without the use of any adhesive and with my newly aquires sewing skills.
Yesterday, I wrestled with the new carpet. It'* nice to see a beautiful, clean, solid color carpet for a change but I'm rather dissapointed with it. If you remember, I was wondering what to do about the pre-formed OEM carpet padding. This gives the carpet a specific shape especially under and forward of the seatbelt mounts. I decided to reuse the old ones because they have been out of the car for so long, they were very dry and no longer smelled. Well, the new carpet is not formed for this padding anyway. Personally I think it looks like hell.

Fortunately, I was able to inspect the material prior to buying at Just Rite. This material is roughly 1/8" thick with the foam back but I have seen thicker. Nearly 1/4"

I gotta say, I'm speechless. I ended up sending an email to the manufacturer of the carpet and explained my dissapointment in the fit. A customer service rep just called and asked if I still had the OEM carpet. I replied yes. She said that a box and UPS call tag will be sent to me so that the OEM carpet can be sent to their product development team to have a new mold made. Although she didn't specifically say, I believe they are going to send me a newly molded carpet along with the OEM when the new mold is complete!
Holy step up to the plate Batman! Now that'* what I call customer service.
Soon, others will be able to replace their carpet with an OEM fit!
