I was curious if there is a way to make the back windows lower all the way instead of just halfway. Will changing the window motors to front window motors do the trick? Or is it just too complicated to try?

Impossible. The hardware was designed so you couldn't. This is a safety feature built into the car so when the child safety locks are engaged, a kid can't reach outside easily and open the door with the outside handle (at 100+ mph on the freeway).

Yes you can get them to go down all the way. It'* just a matter of money as most things are. you have to change your window regulator to one off of a car that dose go all the way maybe a grand am. It'* something i've been toying with for a while. If that is to big of a pain for you just go in the door and find the exposed part of the gear used to put the window up and down. You will find a small bolt with a plastis washer on it. the washer is about 1/2" thick. and when the window is all the way down the gear will hit this stopper. remove the bolt and stopper and you will gain aprox, 3-4" of more open window. When i find a regulator that works right for us to di this i'll post it. I have a freind that works at a custom body shop and he is helping me with this issure currently.

Nice. Thanks for the info, sounds like a project this summer for me. I didnt go tinkering with anything in there last year, I was too afraid I would break something and then the window wouldnt go down at all!(or up!!)

Are the tracks long enough to guide the window all the way down? I'd like to know if there'* even enough physical room for the window to retract fully. These were never designed to go all the way, but it'* true that with a little ingenuity and alot of cash, nearly everything can be overcome.

no the tracks are not long enough to go all the way down. they will have to be transplantted from another car. I'm pretty sure (from my experimenting) that the door itself will accept the transplant as far as the room being there. What gm car do the windows in the back go all the way down? Maybe certain years grand am? that was all i could think of. Smellbird if you want the extra 3-4" on that window. and don't feel ok doing it yourself. just drive to aurora this summer, bring some booze and a little cash, and i'll take the panels off and mod the regulator for you. Next time i go in the doors i'll take pics.

This is something I can handle on my own. But maybe I'll just drive down with some booze anyway!

Hey there, any updates on this topic? I have one rear window that won't move at all, probably connector, and one that moves up or down, but once it reaches the lowest point, it won't budge, goes 'brrrrrrrr', until you grab and tug by hand. SO, as long as I'm going in there, I'd like to -upgrade / downgrade- to a more open window. Thanks.
