Default Odd ABS and Traction Control Problems

I've been having some problems lately with the ABS, and possibly the Traction control on my car. I'm pretty sure their interconnected, but I don't know if the one problem is occuring because of the other. The ABS have been periodically engauging on my car but never at the right time. When comming to a stop, with light brake application, the ABS will suddenly kick in, with a violent pulsing/vibrating brake application and will bring the car to an abrupt stop. The ABS light comes on, and usually stays on until the car is turned off. As for the traction control, when the key is in the ON position but the engine is off, you can occasionally hear a loud buzzing/droning sound coming from the Traction control unit. I was looking through my manuel, and read that the Traction control used the ABS system for braking, that is what lead me to believe that these two problems could be connected. If anyone has any input or ideas, it would be appreciated

Your ABS is acting odd. I've not seen a 'premature' ABS situation with anyone'* car on this forum.

The whirring you hear is the TC pump pressurizing the system. It uses applied braking to control traction, and this is normal operation.

Each of your 4 hubs has an electrical connector on the back side. The WSS is an integral part of the hub. I suggest getting a service manual to troubleshoot this system.

I too have a traction control/ABS problem... sometimes when I break traction a little bit, both lights come on. But if I really break them loose, nothing.

Yes, unfortunatly this is a con for Pontiacs I belive!! My father in-law works at a GM dealership andhe says they have problems with that all the time. I had them replace my wheel sensor because #1 my trac control light was on #2 my wheel was making a horrible shrieking sound. also i've had most all of my brake lines replaced, i think one of my rotors and maybe one of my calipers!!!!
