EGR Tube.... can it be fixed?

Well, upon insepecting some of the parts to put back on, I came across a crack in the EGR tube. I don't think it can be repaired, since the location it is in gets smashed by the holddown. See pic here, it is blurry, but you can see through the crack and get a good idea where it is.

All I see is a Barney purple flag..and some reflection on the camera of flowers.

Fake Canadian was going to order one..I think he's got the number

Pete!!!!! got a number?

willwren 07-21-2006 09:38 AM

Go to the dealer. That'll be hard to get the number for on GMPD. It comes with the bracket that bolts to the end of the cylinder head. The tube cannot be purchased seperately.

Make sure you get a new EGR gasket while you're there.

That crack is allowing unmetered air into the system that the MAF sensor can't read. It's the worst vacuum leak potential you can imagine. It is running you lean. Stay off of WOT for awhile until you get it fixed.

daman 07-21-2006 09:38 AM

you may want to try your local GM dealer or try to find used,,,shes shot man

**edit**...will beat me to it

Bonneville92V688 07-21-2006 09:40 AM

Nahh, I pointed it at the flowers so you could see through the crack. The flag and flowers are my grandmas. She lives with us.

Ouch... maybe that's why the tube is so clean on the inside.

BillBoost37 07-21-2006 09:43 AM

The flowers are seen THROUGH it?

Massive vac leak like the Green Goblin mentioned.

I did seal a small one on the fake Canadians car with some RTV as a temp fix. In this case..for a temp fix I'd suggest the RTV with metal tape or a small clamp to support it.

Well, I'm gonna post a wanted ad for one. Like I said before, I'm a 18 year old kid with no job at the time, in which I had to sell alot of my old collectibles and stuff to buy parts, and I really don't feel like taking in my Lionel train set worth over 6 grand for a EGR tube.

Junkyard

bonnie94ssei 07-21-2006 01:24 PM

Mine has the same size crack but on the bottom end. I've been looking for one for a while now. Bill used some RTV on mine, but I do need a new one. I thought I didn't have a part number but I do remember finding it on GMPD I believe, I could be wrong. It should be $34 or so. I'll try searching again.. :?

bonnie94ssei 07-21-2006 01:31 PM

It was NOT gmpd, but gm-car-parts.com, that I found it on.

Click the linky: type in EGR Tube and search your car > emissions > egr system > tube
