Check engine light came on. Local Autozone scan says P1441- Emission Evap. Searched the site for info. I found some, but confused at what to try first? Car is a 97 SSEI - 68K miles.

Do you know where your evap cannister is? The round black can mounted near your airbox? Check to see if the vacuum lines and electrical connector are attached.

The good news is that this won't effect efficiency or performance.

Yeah, I know where it is. I'll check the lines and electrics.

Follow the lines all the way back to the vacuum source.....on the supercharger. You'll have to pull your engine cover (don't put it back, especially in AZ).

Cover is already off, cleaned and in storage in the garage. Made a BIG difference in engine temp. In fact, I don't know if this car has the 180 degree t-stat. Is that a recommended mod for the SC series II? Gauge read 210-215 (if it is accurate) today. It was 88 or 89 today. Forecasting the first possible 100 degree day Sunday.

OK, I took out the BIG flashlight to check the lines (Dad'* 66 mustang hogging my space in the garage for the summer) and there is a huge black rectangular plastic box in the way. Geez, the cannister in the 94 SE was just sitting there, easy to see. The air intake is also in the way of pulling the big rectangular box. I may have to wait for daylight tommow to move stuff :(

Echo, get a 180 in there ASAP. And seriously consider drilling two 1/16 inch holes in the flange first. Maybe 4. I run two holes out here year round. It'll help with power, efficiency, and longevity.

Let us know IF you find your canister.

Sounds like I have a weekend project! Before the check engien light came on, I was going to go to my parents house in Payson (15 to 20 degrees cooler there) and change the supercharger oil since I don't know when/if it had ever been done. I'll get the T-stat in first, then see what I can do about SC oil. What is that big black box in the fenderwell next to the stock air intake?

I believe that would be the PCM.
