Drum Brakes
 

Was wondering if anyone can post a photo of the brakes with the drum removed. Trying to hunt down a clunking noise and grinding that occured after I installed new wheel cylinders. Just want to insure I did them right. 99.9% sure.


EDIT: Pah I am an idiot I have a repair manual at home with photos but a color would still be nice just to see up close a little better the upper half of the assembly. Thanks.

Tinkered around and think it might be the one wheel cylinder is faulty on the one side so when I braked only one side of the pads actually contacted the drum. To bad I can't get the stripped bolt off to get the cylinder out.

Any tips when it comes to torching one off?

I assume you have the right tool? It's not a hex socket. It's a star pattern like a torx, but in reverse. Think of it as a female torx socket.

If you did strip the male-torx bolt heads on the cylinder, just cut the ends off with a good dremel cutting wheel, or try to cut a slot in them and take em out with a flat head screwdriver. I stripped the bolts on one before on a 92 lesabre. I just cut the star part of the heads off with a dremel cutting wheel, it doesnt matter because they thread into the cylinder anyway and your replacing the cylinder. I wouldnt torch them

Yeah I had the right tool, I don't have a dremel so Im just gonna try the old solid chisel and hammer to knock the head off. If not I'll go get a dremel. Thanks :D
