I just bought a non-running '97 SE. Two different parts stores list 2 different regulators, based on what the original p/n was. My regulator is marked with some sort of part number, BUT it doesn't look like the OEM, and that part number doesn't match up with either of the possiblities listed. How should I determine which FPR to use, assuming my current one is aftermarket, and thus no help in figuring OEM part number?

Also, I see a lot of folks referencing GMPartsDirect for good AC Delco prices. Sure, their prices are good, but they KILL you on shipping. I thought I'd pass along a guy we've used for years - Dal Slabaugh at VanDevere Olds. He'* a legendary GM parts guy, and he sells at cost + 10%, which is about what GMPartsDirect sells for, BUT Dal has normal shipping charges, and no tacked on "handling" fees. His email is lockitup@bright.net, and his number is (877) 448-5451. The downside of being very good is being very busy. Be patient, and you shall be rewarded! Another good place is www.rmsautoparts.com, but they cater towards the Corvette/Camaro/Impala SS guys. They've helped me on other GM parts, and their pricing is about the same. They are, however, still Paypal only I believe. Just wanted to get these guys out there, so everyone can get their hands on GM parts at a great price!

Well, I hadn't looked that far, so thank you. That goes back to p/n 17113346, which supercedes to 89017530. I can either pay highway robbery prices at the store ($53.95 at one place I checked), or get it from www.rmsautoparts.com for $32.95 + shipping.

Check www.gmpartsdirect.com I coulda sworn mine was a bit less than that from there...

They had it at $33.81, plus we're-been-smoking-crack shipping charges.

How did you cross AC Delco numbers to GM long numbers?

In this case, I used www.rockauto.com. They have both numbers tied to it. I just looked up by year/make/model, and it was there.

The guys at rmsautoparts.com also had it. I searched by long number, and it gave me the AC Delco part number. If I felt like waiting a day, I'd order it from RMS. They're in Texas, and I usually get things next day, even by UPS Ground. However, I want it today, so I'm buying locally. My local parts guy won't match online guys, but will give me enough of a discount to get pretty close. I can't speak highly enough about RMS, though.
