downshifting/passing gear

i have a quick question about downshifting. when i first got my car in january, when going wot at highway speeds, it seemed to downshift great almost all the time and would throw you back in the seat (i think it would go down 2 gears) now it will only do that once in a while when when passing, like it is only downshifting one gear now instead of the two like before...maybe this is normal and i'm just nuts, or do i have a tps starting to fail or and its not seeing wot all the time...it doesn't seem to be bogging down like a plugged cat, just not going into passing gear right. i'l start by hooking up a scan tool unless this sounds normal

i hope this makes sense

Mine does that every once in a while. I think it has to do with: engine load, throttle input, and vehicle speed. sounds normal to me but I may be wrong.

Vehicle speed is probably the biggest factor along with TPS.

The pcm is programmed to downshift if under certain speeds.
