Default P0141

I have a 1999 SSEi, stock. 120,000 km (75,000 mi)

Just got a P0141 - O2 Heater Performance Sensor 2 code. I have been noticing poor gas mileage lately.
From what I have read I should replace the O2 sensor.

Which one is it? Where can I find this sensor?

Or should I replace both while I am at it?

I just had the MAF replaced a few months ago. Also changed the spark plug wires.
All other sensors are original. What else should I replace given the car'* age?

Thanks

Welcome to the Bonneville Forum.

Ya, your about due for a new O2 sensor. You should be fine only changing the front one. This is on your rear exhaust manifold. Make sur eyou don't use a Bosh sensor, they don't do well in these cars. Put a lot of penitrating oil on the threads before you change it. It'* going to be stuburn. There is a write up in the tech info area about changing the O2 sensor.

Rear sensor. Sensor 1 is the front, 2 is the rear.

crap... I already ordered the front one..

According to the parts guy on the phone, the code P0141 is for Bank 1 Sensor 2, which he said is the front (he said Bank 2 Sensor 2 is the rear). He said the rear one goes bad much less often than the front.
...too much conflicting info.

Are they interchangeable? I think he said the rear one was more expensive, which means they are different parts.

Geeez.. I hate it when I open my big blabby mouth and you guys then say something that makes me second guess the biggest font we got.

Took a look at Rockauto. It'* about as clear as mud. Hopefully Dan'* home today and can peek at his FSM'* or we can find more info.

SENSOR,OXY (POSN 2) PRE CONVERTER

In my book what they have here is BS. We only have one bank of sensor. When looking at any scan tools we can see B1S1 and B1S2, the second bank is used in a 4 O2 sensor setup like with most V8'*.

Did a little more research and confirmed that S2'* are the rear post cat sensors. Article I found was about disabling them to pass emissions.
