Default Rubber tube- attached to heater blower motor cover.

The rubber tube that is connected to the heater blower motor cover- 98 Bonneville SSE- is that supposed to be open at one end or should it be connected to the opening tube on the firewall directly below the heater motor?

*If it is not connected- what is that opening below the heater blower motor on the firewall for?

Thanks for any response.

It'* not supposed to connect to anything, to my knowledge, it'* always just been like a condensation vent or something like that.

That sounds like the tube that draws or pushes air through the motor to keep it cool. It connects onto the housing below the motor.

Thanks,
Based on your photo- the tube in question is positioned at 6PM- is that the correct position?- my tube is positioned around 8 to 10 pm and the tube right now is not long enough to reach that opening below the motor- its just attached to the blower motor cover but open on one end.

I did have this replaced a couple of years ago- maybe the mechanic never installed the cover to line up properly and that'* why its off center now?
* my electrical plug in connection is also around 11 pm-* if that helps any.

can anyone post an actual pic of the correct heater blower motor cover position?

One other question- does it matter if its not connected to that opening below the motor?-
Its working ok- just some intermittant squeals that go away once its warmed up.

Thanks again for your help.
