Rear defrost problem
hi all
kinda new to the forum so bear with me.
ive got a 98' bonneville se bout 179,000 miles and still goin strong.
heres the problem; the other day i went out to start it and my battery was dead, ive had the car a year and have no idea how old it is so i jumped it and had no problems, its charging fine (14 volts while at speed and bout 13.5 at idle) i drove it all day and quit a long distance and only had to jump it one or two more times. long story short i got home that night turned the car off took the key out and realized the cause of the battery drain, the rear defrost is staying on 24-7 even with car off and no key. so i checked the fuse and its still good, so i went for the relay under the passenger side thinkin it was malfunctioning since its a timer and relay combo. took me a minute to find the sticker on the panel for the location of the RD relay (its location G) and ITS NOT THERE. i repeat the relay is missing. i checked the other relays by pulling them to see if its running off one of the other ones and its not. by my knowledge it shouldnt even be working at all if theres no relay, and ive never had any problems with the rear defrost in the year and 17,000 miles ive had the car.
i havent gotten the relay yet to see if it will help.
ANY suggestions or similar problems?

I'm not really sure right as of yet where the relay is. But if you wanted to in the mean time, you could remove the RD fuse and put back in on a as-needed basis until we can get this figured out. At least pulling the fuse should stop it from draining your battery.
