Brake Troubles - - URGENT!
Well I've got brake troubles in the bonne again
I was driving down the road and heard a really loud grinding sound coming from the right rear wheel area. After further investigation a friend and I came to the conclusion it was coming from the drum. So i went home jacked the car up pulled the drum cover off, and three parts fell onto the ground. I don't know much about brakes but i know thats not good.
I took a picture of the parts, if anyone could help me out with what they are and if its fixable that would be great thanks!
With this out of commission I'm carless and i have a job interview tomorrow

I don't know the technical name, but that'* your adjuster. Anything'* fixable, but you'll need a new one. That one looks done as the gears are gouged.
I haven't done drum brakes yet but I may have to check mine this weekend.

You also need to figure out why the self adjuster fell out of place. Was there a coil type spring between the two brake shoes?
Edit - Here'* a pic of the springs. I'm referring to the gold colored springs. They pull the shoes together keeping tension on the adjusters.

Not sure anyone has tried it. W/O the adjuster I would expect the brakes to behave badly. Possibly causing the car to pull to one side. Expect anything if you decide to try it.

These are your BRAKES you're talkin' about here. I would highly recommend you find a ride to the parts store instead of driving. That particular brake will not work without the adjuster in place. You'd prolly be OK, but are you willing to take the chance? ...with someone else'* life if your brakes go south? You also run the risk of hosing up more brake parts in that drum, costing you more time & money - that should be enough incentive not to drive!
What'* that other piece in the picture? Is that the self-adjuster arm?
