OK. I'm one of the older farts on this Board, it seems.
"Way back" when all the hot-$hit was American Muscle Cars and Pony Cars with V-8'* and tunnel-rams, it was always fun to go cruisin' and check everybody out, brag and drag, and all that happy horse$hit. Simpler times. Especially for some of you guys 'cuz you were in diapers! :P
Anyway, lately, since getting a newer Pontiac than the one on jacks in my driveway, I'm just 'driving', not 'cruisin', and it seems that all of sudden there'* the old feeling again of having guys check out the car and wanting to 'exceed the limit' in one way or the other!
It'* mostly the Nipponese Potato-Poopers with some kid driving all hunched down with a baseball cap on backwards and some 4-letter-word crap spewing out the window. All wheels and no tires, if you know what I mean.
It'* like the SSE is 'the enemy'. A threat. Something to be reckoned with. Nothing personal, or, maybe it is, I don't know.
It'* funny as hell. I still got Testosterone to spare, man. I can see me doin' a little street dancin' again!

You nailed it right on the head. I get it mostly from ricers and mustangs. They pick the Bonneville as the adversary because they think it'll be an easy kill, and only 'looks fast but must not be'. There'* a few that have learned their lessons the hard way down here.
Teach 'em a lesson and relive your younger days like I am. It'll make you feel younger, and the positve G'* you pull off the line are good for the wrinkles.
I personally haven't driven like this in years.

Geez, Louise...I don't wanna beat my horse to death. Not this one. It'* the work/family car now. Still, once in a while, I've gotta blow out the cylinders somehow.
I've started to get a hankerin' for the whine of a supercharger and the feel of a posi, even if it'* PULLING instead of SHOVING me. Two stripes are better than one!
That would be a whole new drivetrain for my '69...hmmm.
Can I get a license plate that says: BLOW ME ? :P

I know what you mean, Bus. But don't let the stupid minority misrepresent some of us more intelligent young folk. 
Since I'm still in college, you see (and hear!) exactly the same crap that you've been describing! People ask me what king of car I drive, and I tell them firmly, "I drive a Pontiac Bonneville." I get all kinds of blank looks. Being Asian at a science/math/engineering college in a liberal arts university, they ask "why don't you drive a Civic or an Integra?" as if it'* a better car. Ha!
Having many friends who own Japanese passenger cars, I'll tell you, after you drive a Pontiac, those things never compare. Twice a week I drove my friends to class in her Honda Accord. My brother owns a Toyota Camry. I used to drive my friend'* Toyota Corolla on weekends. Sorry, but if I had to choose between having all three cars or just one Bonneville, I'd take the Bonnie. Or rather, I'd take all three Japanese cars and sell them to get me an SSEi.
As an engineering major and an Asian, I respect design and engineering of all origins, but I hate it when people talk as if Americans can't compete with Japanese cars. Think again, little ricers. You've got four little bangers under there, but I've got 3.8 liters of pumping iron, plus plenty of room to spare for the ladies in the back and lots of comfort and style. Trying pulling that off in a Civic.

Most of the cars I'm referring to just 'happen' to be made in Japan. Big deal.
The kids driving 'em are all shapes and colors.
It ain't about ethnicity, it'* about the car.
Just like the 'olden days'.
Chev vs. Ford vs. Mopar. AMC'* didn't count...!
I drive a Bus for a living. I've seen most of the neighborhoods and kinds/styles of people/cars/food around this area. It'* one of the things I like the best about my job.
How to tie it all together into this thread can only be that it'* all Life and what makes it Fun.
I told a story like this over on AR15.com, starting with the humorous name of 'ricers' and moving into how it seems every town has a Chinatown. The evolution of a conversation, seemingly unrelated comments, culminating with me telling this on the Forum.
Hearing the word 'ricers', my daughter asked me, 'ricers? you mean like Chinatown?'
She didn't have any idea of tying the two together in a negative way. 7 year-olds just don't know what bigotry is. They're so innocent.
It has nothing to do with that train of thought. It was just how the conversation with my wife started and the kids hearing it, and here we are.
Anyway, she wants to go to Chinatown and I told her we'd all go there for some fun and food. We'll check out the cars, too!
Hell, I live a neighborhood that has its roots in Scandinavia! You don't think there'* a lot of 'EuroScandahoovian' stuff around here? Yet another culture? Think we haven't tried the food tied to the Old Country? We're talkin' little old ladies with the turn signal on and the seat belt hangin' out the door kinda jokes and cars.
How 'bout some good ole Southern Fried Chicken? BBQ ribs? How 'bout some catfish? You can bet there'* a neighborhood where you can find that! The cars look different there, too.
Being an AMERICAN is all about having ancestors from somewhere else! People forget that and when you start to talk about the different cultures - WHAM! - it'* as if you're not supposed to!
That'* the irony. We are AMERICANS. We HAVE to recognize the differences. It'* what makes us unique!
The differences in the cars, though...it'* just fun as hell to me.
I love to see the different styles and the people who drive them.
The idea of the American car has always been to be bigger, heavier, faster and more powerful.
It'* a style. Our style.
I appreciate the 'ricers' and I have no idea what the affectionate reverse term is for 'Yankeemobiles'. What is it? I wanna know what I'm drivin' here!
Now, the American cars are using several components made elsewhere in the world.
Just the way it is.
Still, when I get the 'look', it'* a BLAST from the PAST.
It'* a 'challenge'!!!
I hope I exonerated myself...and maybe gave some of you something to think positively about I didn't know this soapbox had 20" wheels!
