Ok i put a intake on my car back in december 2003 and put my iat sensor in my intake and when i plug it in my fuel mileage gets cut in about half and when i unplug it the fuel mileage goes back up to what it was with the stock air box in and iat sensor pluged in. Its confusing me because the other guys all seem to leave the sensor pluged in and mileage stays the same or goes up. Please help...

I would reset the ECM by disconnecting the batt for 30 mintutes, then drive around a few times with it plugged in and perhaps that'll do it. Good luck.

I got 40 MPG with an intake pipe & cone filter, my IAT fell to the tranny bell by then most likely.

This would have caused HIGH read temps, and the air was atleast 90% humidity, @ 40 degrees F.....

Now with my temporary stock airbox (just the thumbscrew and tube holding it in) and no IAT milage has gone way down... I may have to put it in again...

In the long-term, you'll regret not running it.

Will i remember the things you said can happen if you dont have the iat sensor pluged in but i really cant afford the terrible fuel mileage i get when the sensor is plugged in. At first i unhooked the battery for a half a day and then ran the car but fuel mileage was still horrible. So is it looking like i need a zzp mini afc 2.0 and maybe a new iat sensor??

ZZP mini-afc? No, you need to fix the problem. Scan for codes first. Also measure the resistance of the IAT sensor and tell us what the actual outside temperature was when you did so (with a cold engine). Horrible gas mileage needs to be solved in a rational manner, not by putting on a 200 dollar performance part to trick the PCM.

Yeah, what he said. Definately figure out what the real problem is before dumping a bunch of cash into a tuning device.

http://www.freeautomechanic.com/iat-...mperature.html i found this test the ati and found in a 70 degree room there 2.4 k ohm so im going to replace it and see how well my fuel mileage is this weekend ... hopefully this is the problem that'* causing my crappy fuel mileage
