Default Interior lights staying on sometimes ????

We have a 93 Bonne 3.8 and sometimes the interior lights dont shut off when you get out but if you go back in and put the key in and jiggle it and then get out again they may or may not shut off... Is there timer to shut them off or is this a problem in the key switch or both ..( I have an extra car for parts but dont know what parts to swap out) Please help with suggestions on what and where to start as its drained the battery a couple times and it was 21 F below here today .. Thanks

a temporary fix would be to pull the interior fuse. this way you will have battery in the morning.

could be a bad door switch...BCM(body control module).....or ignition switch as you made mention of jiggling the key to make the lights go off

little research found this....
According to the FSM, it sounds like the MALL (body control module). The MALL controls dimming and operation of the interior lights.

The FSM also indicates it could be a door switch, the Remote Function Actuator (RFA) which is the module that works with your remote, or a headlamp switch.

One of the first tests to try is to see if opening closing the other doors (other than the drivers door) provides a different result.

The next steps are to disconnect the RFA and see if the lights stay on. If so, the next step is to remove the MALL and see if the lights stay on. If the lightsd go off when one of the modules is disconnected, then the FSM says to replace the faulty module. Both modules are located on a bracket, underneath the passenger side of the dash board. Remove the hush panel under the passenger side of the dash and look underneath. You should see the MALL as it is most visible, and the RFA is behind it on that same bracket. IIRC, there is a tab at the back of the MALL. Release the tab and slide the MALL down off the bracket.

it'* probably just your drivers door switch..built into your handle. Your lights probably go off when you re-enter your car because you've opened up the door and shut it. had nothing to do with jiggling your key in the ignition.
PM billboost37 aka our parts guy to see if he has a used one to sell.

Thanks for the replies.
Heres more info to consider.
1. We dont have a remote and dont know if the car ever had one.
2. Interior Lights have never stayed on when we drove it....its only when exiting the car.
3. It has an aftermarket cd player in it ( I didnt install it) and once in a while it stays on at times separate then when the lights stay on. Both have never stayed on together. Messing with the key usually gets the radio to stay off then.
Help appreciated

Sounds like the key cylinder is a bit worn. I had a car that I could remove the key in any position, even with the engine running. I'm wondering if when you shut the engine off, your going just a little far and getting in to the ACC area. After removing the key, try wiggling the cylinder frame that goes around the key.

Thanks for the reply
I believe the key might be part of the problem ( radio part) but the lights are probably something else correct or would that effect the lights too???? How would I change the key switch out with my other car or is that not possible ??
Thanks
