Default Coil Packs - 1994 Bonneville SSE

I just bought a a 94 SSE in a little rough shape. My question is how can I check to see if one of the coil packs are bad, and will a 96 coil pack work on the 94.

Very small.

I have a 1/4" drive socket set that I use for it, but don't recall the actual socket size off the top of my head. 5/16" or so?

I thought most cars use sae sizes so I went and bought a 4mm-13mm(only had 6-13 before)and the 4, and 5 dont work. So I will go and by the standard small sizes now.
