Default 1999 Bonneville engine up and dying during stop and go driving?

Hello all-
Just wondering if someone could maybe point me in the right direction about what'* going on with my car. I have a 1999 Bonneville with the non-supercharged 3800 Series engine, 134,000 miles. Today, the car just up and died on me twice. Once I was stopped at a stop light, and once I was just driving down the road and [I believe] pressing down on the accelerator. After 30 seconds or so after it dying, it would start up and drive until it died the second time. The check engine light came on after it died the first time and stayed on until I got to my destination. After it died the second time, I was able to drive another 1.5 miles or so to my destination without it dying again. Both instances occurred during in-town driving. I called a mechanic shortly afterward and he said it could either be three things: the crank sensor, the mass air flow sensor, or a electrical problem. Does anyone have any sort of idea what could be wrong with it or what needs to be done to fix the problem? Any feedback would be appreciated!

If your close to a Autozone, try and get it scanned for codes. That will help us figure out what'* going on with your car.

I don't believe the MAF is the problem, but you can unplug it and drive without it. Crank sensor is my guess.

It'* common enough and would be one of the first things I tried, after seeing the code.
