Cooling Fans
 

I was under the hood the other day looking around checking for things while the car was running. When my fans turned on I took a look at how they were functioning. I know one is a hi speed and one is a low speed, but both of them were going slow. Slow enough that it looked like I could stop it with my hand (of course I didnt try, that would be stupid)

Am I looking at replacing them soon or is this normal?

Normal.

That was low speed. On high speed only one speeds up. ;)

If you happen to have a scantool handy, the low speed fan setting is 212 degrees, and the high speed setting kicks in at 226 according to my 95 FSM. The Left fan is the 2 setting fan while the right fan maintains 1 speed. Long as that left fan kicks into high gear at 226 you're golden.

Is there a way to test if the high speed fan is really going high speed? I'd actually like to see the fan go from low to high. Both of my fans pretty much go at a low speed. Which I guess is good as long as the air is flowing. What I'd actually like to do is have the fans on all the time or at least hook a switch up to do them manually.
