Default Cooling Fans for ‘97’ Bonneville

Could someone tell me at wehat temperature the cooling fans should come on? I have 2 fans, one large and one small. The only time either fan comes on is when the temp reaches 220. At 220 both fan turn on and back off at 200. Is this correct? Are the fans 2 speed?

Thanks
Mike

From everything I remember reading here, that sounds correct. One of the experts will be here shortly to confirm this or call me an idiot, though.

Yes, looks like they are working right. The ecm keeps the temps. up for emission resones.

A chip will fix it so you can, if you want to change the temp the fans kick in at. There is also a wiring harness option specifically designed for this issue I am not sure what years they work with.

I have heard a lot about this here, and have not investigated too deeply, but..

It shouldn't be that hard to add a manual On/Off swith to one or both fans, should it? The hardest part, I'm guessing, would be mounting the switch in the cabin so that it doesn't end up looking "home made".

I think the company Casper makes them. Look in Jegs or summit they should be there.
