Coolant loss in 96 SSEi

I've read several postings about the (TSBs: 01-06-01-007A; 01-06-01-007) fragile intake manifiold that causes coolant leaks.

My 1996 Bonneville SSEi (supercharge) is loosing coolant (without any visible leaks) and am curious if these TSBs apply to the supercharged engine too?

Anyone know of common areas for coolent loss in this engine?

it doesn't apply to your car, you have the supercharger in place of the plastic upper intake.

I would check for leaks, but as long as you are supercharged you should be fine with regards to failing upper intake manifolds

Check the weep holes under the water pump. The water may be migrating while you drive and burning off or evaporating off the hot engine parts. Check your dipstick for milky residue, and check your coolant overflow tank for oily residue.

Open your radiator cap (when cool) and look in there. Open your oil cap in the front valve cover and look for milky residue. If all this looks good (normal), smell your exhaust for burning coolant. If you smell it, it's most likely a failed REAR head gasket.

Get back to us. We'll help you find it.
